Future Mobility Finalist 2020: BeeSonix UG

Signet Future Mobility Award Finalist 2020

BeeSonix’ journey started in April 2018 on the “Mobility Hack” of the Ministry of Transport of Baden-Württemberg. The idea: playing ultrasonic sound melodies with a station’s PA system to communicate to passengers’ smartphones, enabling track-specific travel information without expensive investments in new beacon infrastructure. This idea – announcements for smartphones – also convinced the “Mobility Hack” jury. With support from the Ministry, they were able to build their own network within the European mobility industry. Recently, they participated at Deutsche Bahn’s mindbox accelerator for “Customer Interaction and AI”, including first tests at DB’s stations across Germany.

What about busses and trains? Routing, guidance and ticketing mostly requires location-based information which BeeSonix can embed in one of their inaudible melodies. All it takes is playing an mp3-file like the usual next stop announcement. Full offline functionality enables novel ticketing solutions.
